The Rainbow Trout is one of ldaho's most important game fish and agricultural product. This trout has evolved from migratory steelhead trout which spawned in the Pacifc slope streams of North America.Responding to long-term environmental events, certain steelhead populations became resident, non-migratory and were designated Rainbow trout.Beginning in the 1880’s, extensive transplanting of Rainbow began in North America and they eventually reached temperate zones on every continent.With ideal habitats, the Rainbow trout has been known to grow over 30 lbs. Pan sized Rainbow Trout are famous for their flashy and acrobatic fighting style, as well as their delicate and flavorful eating qualities.
