Hole 16

About 4500 years ago an ice dam broke at Redrock Pass near Preston, ldaho. A resultinga flood ensued that catastrophically eroded the Snake River Canyon. This enormous water flow drained most of Lake Bonneville. The water level in the canyon was 390 feet above the river's present level. About 10,200,000 cubic feet per second of water rushed down the canyon for eight weeks at velocities over 50 mph. This flood was the second largest flood in the earth’s history. The waters force was so powerful that huge lag boulders, weighing many tons, were torn from the canyon walls and rolled along the stream bed.The concentration of remnant boulders on the fairway and along the edges of Number 16 are these "Bonneville Boulders.
