Hole # 17

In I887 Samwel Briggs operated a post office at the location of the picnic grove west of theClub house. Mr Briggs also operated a ferry on the Snake River about 300 feet east of Number 17 tee.In 1904 Mr. Briggs' daughter and son-in-am, Otis and Molly Syster, constructed and operated a parallel ferry. The Syster subsequently replaced their first ferry with a larger one in 1907 and operated it until the completion of the first river bridge in 1912.The cuts in the river's banks where the stock, wagons,and horses moved from the ferry onto the river bank are still visible 90 feet east of Number 17 tee.
