Concrete raceways have been used in ldaho trout farming since 1928 when Jack Tingey builtSnake River Trout Farm west of Number 7 fairway. Mr. Tingey was a pioneer in the development of growing methods and markets for fresh trout.The raceways west of Number 7 currently raise millions of trout in the constant 58 spring water which flows from the adjacent canyon walls. These raceways are constructed so that the spring water is recycled numerous times before exiting the hatchery.This efficient use of the water has improved the propagation technologies which allows this region to produce more Rainbow Trout than any other place in the world.
